Ambassador Jin Zhijian sends spring festival greetings to friends from all circles in Iceland on Fréttablaðið

On Feb 12, the first day of the Year of the Ox in Chinese lunar calendar, the Iceland mainstream media Fréttablaðið celebrates Chinese Spring Festival with a full page and publishes Ambassador Jin Zhijian's new year's greeting message.

In his greeting message, Ambassador Jin wishes all the Chinese citizens and overseas Chinese in Iceland a happy Spring Festival and an auspicious Year of the Ox. He also wishes Icelandic friends happiness and good health in the new year.

Ambssador Jin notes that the past 2020 was truly remarkable and unforgettable. COVID-19 has caused severe damage to the whole world and affected the lives of people in all countries. Confronted with the grave and complex situation brought about by COVID-19, the Chinese people stood in solidarity and finally brought the pandemic under control. Moreover, China has achieved positive growth in economy and witnessed a decisive success in eradicating its extreme poverty. Currently, China is constantly changing with each passing day.

Ambssador Jin points out that in the past year, China and Iceland supported each other in difficult times and worked side by side against the spread of COVID-19, writing a new chapter of friendship in two countries' history. The bilateral cooperation has advanced steadily, showing a sound momentum of development.

Ambassador Jin emphasizes that 2021 is the Year of the Ox according to Chinese zodiac. The ox symbolizes hard-working,steadfastness and perseverance. Lu Xun, a well-known Chinese author, once said "I serve the people like a willing ox". He hopes China and Iceland can carry forward this kind of spirit in the Year of the Ox and jointly plan a bright future for bilateral relations as celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
