Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Jin Zhijian Takes Interview with Icelandic Television Station Hringbraut

On May 2nd, Chinese Ambassador Jin Zhijian took interview with reporter from Icelandic Television Station Hringbraut, and answered questions on Belt of Road Initiative (BRI), China' Arctic Policy and China-Iceland relations.

Ambassador Jin expressed that as the important platform of international cooperation, the BRI upheld the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. It focused on policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and closer people-to-people ties. It pursued open, green and clean development. Since its inception over five years ago, the BRI has received strong endorsement and warm support of the international community, and China stayed open to all countries around the world to participate in BRI construction. Ambassador Jin also briefed on The Second Belt and Road Forum For International Cooperation, and refuted the so-called Debt Trap. He emphasized that Iceland was one of the founding members of Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The Icelandic government remained open to the signing of MOU on cooperation under the BRI with China. People from business circle and other fields had already shown great interest in joining BRI. The BRI will surely provide new opportunities for China-Iceland cooperation.

Ambassador Jin also elaborated on China's Arctic policies and goals, as well as the latest development of China-Iceland relations.
