Ambassador Jin Zhijian visited Iceland Ocean Cluster

On February 25, Ambassador Jin Zhijian visited Iceland Ocean Cluster and met with Mr. Thor Sigfusson, founder and chairman of the Cluster. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation between China and Iceland in the fishery sector.


Ambassador Jin learned in details about the establishment and operation of the Cluster and spoke highly of its successful practice in integrating resources and serving for enterprises. Ambassador Jin emphasized that fishing industry plays an important role in Icelandic economy and the proportion of fishery products in bilateral trade is relatively high. Both China and Iceland are major fishing countries with its own advantages. China is willing to learn from the successful experience of Icelandic fishing industry, strengthen ties with the Cluster and its members, and jointly promote cooperation in the fishery sector to a new level between the two countries.

Mr. Sigfusson welcomed Ambassador Jin's visit and emphasized that the Cluster is a new platform, achieving maximum benefits through resource integration according to the needs of Icelandic companies. The Cluster and its members have a keen interest in cooperation with China and are willing to maintain close communication with the Chinese Embassy.
