Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Jin Zhijian meets with Managing Director of Promote Iceland

On February 13, Ambassador Jin Zhijian met with Mr. Petur Oskarsson, the new Managing Director of Promote Iceland. The two sides exchanged views on promoting China-Iceland economic and trade relations, especially pushing forward Icelandic companies to participate in the 2nd China International Import Expo.(CIIE).

Ambassador Jin spoke highly of the important role played by Promote Iceland in enhancing cooperation between China and Iceland, and pointed out that the two countries have achieved rapid economic and trade development since the FTA was signed. In 2018, the bilateral trade volume of goods has historically exceeded 700 million U.S. dollars with an increase of more than 30%. Last year, the 1st CIIE was held successfully with the participance of 5 Icelandic companies. Ambassador Jin wished to see more Icelandic companies to participate in the 2nd CIIE and to have more Icelandic quality products in the Chinese market. The Chinese Embassy will work closely with Promote Iceland and provide necessary assistance and support.

Mr.Oskarsson expressed his happiness to see the good development of China-Iceland economic and trade relations. He stressed that China is an important overseas market for Icelandic products. Promote Iceland would like to serve as a leading agency to facilitate Icelandic companies to attend

the 2nd CIIE with the cooperation of the Chinese Embassy and other relevant organization.
