Ambassador JIN Zhijian meets with Prime Minister of Iceland H.E. Katrín Jakobsdóttir

On 9th August, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland JIN Zhijian met with H.E. Katrín Jokobsdóttir, Prime Minister of Iceland at the Prime Minister´s Office. The two sides had a cordial conversation regarding the bilateral relations between China and Iceland.

Ambassador JIN said that he is very glad to return to Iceland as the Chinese Ambassador after 27 years. The relations between China and Iceland have been developing smoothly and soundly in recent years with frequent exchanges of high-ranking officials and various people-to-people exchanges. Iceland is the first European country to sign Free Trade Agreement with China, China is Iceland's biggest trading partner as well as origin of tourists in Asia. The cooperation between the two countries in the areas of geothermal utilization, shipbuilding, telecommunication, finance and Arctic affairs have been fruitful and promising. Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir is welcomed to visit China at a convenient time for both sides to further promote the relations between the two countries.

H.E. Prime Minister Jakobsdóttir warmly welcomed Ambassador JIN to Iceland as the new Ambassador and said that she is glad to see the great achievements of the pragmatic cooperation between Iceland and China. Iceland is willing to further enhance the cooperation and exchanges with China in the areas of economy and trade, culture, climate change and environmental protection. She looks forward to having the opportunity to visit China in the future.
