Ambassador He Rulong Meets with Icelandic Airport Authority

On April 16, 2024, Ambassador He Rulong met with Mr. Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson, Chief Commercial & Airport Development Officer of Keflavik International Airport(KEF) to have in-depth exchanges on China-Iceland direct flight and ways to facilitate the exchange of personnels. Counselor Dai Ke attended the meeting.

Ambassador He expressed his appreciation of the positive role played by KEF in facilitating personnel exchanges and practical cooperation between China and Iceland. He said the number of the Chinese tourists to Iceland is picking up at an accelerated pace, while economic cooperation, trade, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries becoming more frequent. The embassy is willing to work with KEF in a continued effort to maintain and strengthen the good momentum of exchanges between China and Iceland, so as to create favorable conditions for the launch of direct flights between China and Iceland as well as promoting mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

Mr. Rúnarsson made a detailed introduction of KEF, saying that China is one of the major sources of international tourists for Iceland. The airport attaches great importance to the Chinese market and is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China in passenger and freight transport services. KEF will spare no efforts in promoting direct flights between China and Iceland with a view to achieving win-win cooperation.
