Prime Minister of Iceland visits the Embassy of China

On the occasion of Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir visited the Embassy of China in Iceland on February 21, offering new year wishes to the Chinese people and exchanged views with Ambassador He Rulong on China-Iceland relations and others.

Ambassador He expressed that, in the past 53 years of our diplomatic ties, China-Iceland relations have enjoyed sound and steady development as the practical cooperation continued to be advanced. China-Iceland relationship can be hailed as a model of cooperation between countries of different sizes and social systems. China is willing to work with Iceland to maintain close exchanges at different levels, deepen practical cooperation in various areas including green development, increase people-to-people exchanges with a view to taking bilateral relations to a new height.

Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir expressed satisfaction over the development of Iceland-China relations and expressed that she attaches importance to growing Iceland-China relations. She is willing to positively deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in gender equality, and green development such as geothermal energy, climate change, so as to better address global challenges. She wished further development of Iceland-China relations in the new year of the dragon.
