On May 24, Ambassador He Rulong received four former Icelandic ambassadors to China, namely Hjálmar W. Hannesson and his wife Anna Birgis Hannesson, Ólafur Egilsson, Gunnar Snorri Gunnarsson, Stefán Skjaldarson and his wife Birgit Nyborg at the residence.

Ambassador He said that, the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Iceland have witnessed the increase of political mutual trust, as well as exchanges and cooperation in various areas. As contributors to the development of China-Iceland relations and the friendship between the two peoples, all ambassadors should continue to follow China’s development and play a positive role in the sound and sustained growth of bilateral relations.

The four ambassadors thanked Ambassador He for the invitation and recalled with pleasure their work and life experiences during their tenure in China. They spoke positively of China’s development in recent years, and remained committed to playing a constructive role in advancing China-Iceland relations.
