On May 6, 2022, Ambassador He Rulong visited Courtyard by Marriott Reykjavik Keflavik Airport (Courtyard) and met with its CEO Ingvar Eyfjörð.

Ambassador He spoke positively of the successful cooperation between Courtyard and China International Marine Containers (CIMC), hailing it as a milestone for CIMC in the Nordic market, and a major step for "Made in China" modular building system in the Icelandic and wider Nordic market. China is willing to actively participate in Iceland's infrastructure building to booster Iceland's tourism sector with high-quality products and services, with a view to deepening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Ingvar Eyfjörð warmly welcomed Ambassador He, and felt privileged that Courtyard has become the "name card" of China-Iceland cooperation against the backdrop of Covid-19. Ingvar hoped to see more cooperation projects between the two countries, and more Chinese tourists to visit Iceland.

Ambassador He also had a guided tour of Courtyard.

Thanks to the Modular Building System, the Courtyard was premade in China, shipped to Iceland and was assembled within 9 days’ time. It serves as the first hotel of the Marriott in the Nordic region, the first steel structure modular hotel in Iceland, and the first project run by CIMC in the Nordic region.
