On September 1, Chinese Ambassador Jin Zhijian visited Höfn and met with Mayor Matthildur Ásmundardóttir.

Ambassador Jin introduced the latest progress about China's fight against COVID-19 as well as its economic and social development, and explored the possibility of bilateral cooperation in areas such as fishery, tourism, and cultural exchanges.

Mayor Matthildur extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Jin's visit, elaborated on the relevant situation of Höfn, reviewed the history of exchanges between Höfn and China, and was looking forward to the cooperation between the two sides.

Höfn is a harbor city on the east coast of Iceland, approximately 450 km from the capital city Reykjavík. The city enjoys rich resources of fishery and tourism with about 2,400 inhabitants.
