|Mr. He Guoqiang's Visit to Iceland|
Mr. He Guoqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, paid an official goodwill visit to the Republic of Iceland from June 8th to 10th. Major members of the delegation include several ministers and Ambassador Su Ge.

On June 9th, Mr. He Guoqiang and Össur Skarphedinsson, Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, witnessed the signing of three bilateral documents.

Mr. He first met with Mr. Össur Skarphedinsson, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Eoreign Trade, discussing the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Iceland. Then, Mr. He met with the Icelandic Prime Minister, H.E. Johanna Sigurdardottir, and had a friendly convasation. Mr. He conveyed to the Prime Minister greetings from the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Last but not least, Mr. He met with the President of Iceland, H.E. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson. Mr. He conveyed to President Grímsson greetings from Chinese Presidnet Hu Jintao. Representatives of the Chinese delegation were honored to attend a luncheon hosted by President Grímsson.

The atmosphere of the meetings was both friendly and cordial. Both the guests and hosts exchanged views on international and regional issues. They discussed ways to enlarge co-operation to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation in the coming year. Both sides agree that the above-mentioned agreements and MOU, on finance, technology and energy cooperation, are meritorious and mutually beneficial, which manifest deepened trust, good will and friendship. Both agree to work together to further strenthen bilateral relations between China and Iceland in all fields.
