The 6th Meeting of the Chinese-Icelandic Joint Economic and Trade Commission held in Reykjavik

The 6th Meeting of the Chinese-Icelandic Joint Economic and Trade Commission (hereinafter as Joint Commission) was held in Reykjavik on September 6, 2007, chaired jointly by H.E. Mr. Yu Guangzhou, Vice-Minister of Commerce of China, and H.E. Mr. Gretar Mar. Sigurdsson, Permanent Secretary of State, Ministry for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Iceland.

Both sides agreed that the economic and trade relations between China and Iceland have been developing smoothly since the last Joint Commission Meeting, with step-by-step enlargement of cooperative scale and continuous upgrading of cooperative level. Both sides, in spirit of friendship and mutual understanding, also exchanged deeply point views on how to strengthen cooperation in fields such as geothermal energy, telecommunication, fisheries, high technology, etc. The Meeting was in a friendly, practical and constructive atmosphere. Both sides spoke highly of results of the Meeting, by signing Minutes of the 6th Meeting of the Chinese-Icelandic Joint Economic and Trade Commission, Agreement on Cooperation between the Bureau of External Trade Development of the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Trade Council of Iceland and Memorandum of Understanding between Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Vodafone Core Network in Iceland.

After the Meeting, H.E. Mr. Yu Guangzhou had a cordial meeting with H.E. Mme. Ingibjorg Solrun Gisladottir, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Iceland, and at invitations, visited Landsbanki, Glitnir and Actavis.
