PM and FM of Iceland: Satisfied with the Chinese-Icelandic Relations

H.E. Mr. Geir H. Haarde, Prime Minister of Iceland, and H.E. Mme. Ingibjorg Solrun Gisladottir, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Iceland, are both satisfied with development of the Chinese-Icelandic relations. They stated this to H.E. Mr. Zhang Keyuan, the new Chinese Ambassador to Iceland, who paid courtesy calls respectively on the 27th and 28th of August, 2007. The Government of Iceland will stand firmly on the one-China policy, they further said, which will take no change either now or in the future. They are confident that there is much potential for Iceland and China to conduct more cooperation in various fields, such as renewable energy, economy and trade, banking, cold storage, etc.

Ambassador Zhang said that he was pleased with the unprecedented good trend in development of the Chinese-Icelandic relations, appreciated and thanked the Government of Iceland for its adherence to the one-China policy and would like to endeavor to further promote the friendly and mutually beneficial bilateral relations to a new height.
