China Culture Festival in Kopavogur which begins at the end of September this year will be a success, said H.E. Mr. Zhang Keyuan, the new Chinese Ambassador who arrived in early August, 2007. The festival will introduce the Chinese cultural heritage, traditional music, photography, acrobatics, folk arts, etc. to the people of Iceland.
The Chinese Ambassador said this when he paid a courtesy call on Mr. Gunnar Ingi Birgisson, Mayor of Kopavogur on 16th of August. He expressed his appreciation to the City of Kopavogur, and Mr. Birgisson in particular, for what the mayor had been doing for the Festival. It is believed that, with joint efforts, the Festival will be a success, being another bridge for the people of Iceland to know about the Chinese culture and art.
Mr. Birgisson said that the people of Iceland had long been admiring the long standing and well-established Chinese culture and art. The City of Kopavogur was highly pleased to provide an opportunity to the Icelandic people to have a close contact with the ancient Chinese culture and art. He thanked the Ministry of Culture of China for its help and the City of Wuhan of China to send large cultural and art groups to attend the Festival. He expected more exchanges and cooperation between Kopavogur and Wuhan.
