China Jingdezhen Porcelain Fair is on show in Kopavogur from December 20th, 2005 up to the second half of January 2006. On January 19th, 2006, HE Mr. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, President of Iceland, and Mr. Yang Junqi, Charge'de Affairs of the Embassy of China in Iceland, attended the fair. More than 30,000 porcelain products with over 10,000 catagories are displayed at the fair.
Jingdezhen has been known as "the capital of porcelain" in the world over 2000 years. The name of Jingdezhen is honored by the name of Empror Jingde of the Southern Song Dynasty, approximately 1000 years ago (1004-1007AD). Over a long history, products in Jingdezhen were exclusively for royal families. The Chinese porcelain is so exquisite that it is described as being "as white as jade, as bright as mirror, as thin as egg-shell, and when you knock it lightly, it sounds as beautiful as chime".
