"China and UN" Commemorative Activities Are Held in Beijing

On October 24 2005, the United Nations Association of China and the United Nations System in China held the Workshop on China and UN in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations. The workshop reviewed the history of cooperation between China and the UN and discussed how to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in such areas as political security, economic development, human rights, and social progress in a bid to promote the cooperation between the two sides.

State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the workshop. He expressed that China would like to work together with the international community to urge the UN to adhere to multilateralism and achieve common security and push the UN to keep up with the times and advance reform.

Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing attended the reception in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations. He noted that China would actively participate in the activities of the UN in all areas and support the UN to play a central role in international affairs and carry out all-round reforms in a wide range of areas. He also unveiled the curtains for China and UN Album, Report on the Progress of China in Implementing the Millennium Development Goals, and China and UN Commemorative Stamps.
