The President of Iceland Pays A State Visit to China

HE Mr. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, President of Iceland, paid a state visit to China from May 16th to 22nd. HE Mrs. Sigridur A. Thordardottir, Minister for the Environment of Iceland accompanied the Preident. A delegation of more than 200 businessmen and over 200 tourists were also onboard the charter plane with the President in a long and exciting journey to China. During the one-week visit to China, the President held talks with HE Mr. Hu Jintao, President of China, and met HE Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of China, and HE Mr. Wang Zhaoguo, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China. The Natonal General Administration of Protection of Environment of China and the National Administration of Earthquake of China respectively signed MoUs on cooperation in fields of Protection of Environment and Study of Earthquake with the Ministry for the Environment of Iceland. What's more, a number of contracts and agreements were also signed between the Chinese and Icelandic enterprises. Except for Beijing, the official delegation and business delegation also visited Shanghai and Qingdao.
