Ambassador JIN Zhijian meets with the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Iceland

On 4 October, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Mr. JIN Zhijian met with Mr. Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Iceland. The two sides had a cordial conversation regarding how to further strengthen the cooperation in the area of environmental protection between China and Iceland.

Ambassador JIN introduced China´s policy, measures taken and achievements in the area of environmental protection and combating climate change, underlining that the Chinese Government attaches great importance to environmental protection and combating climate change, it has adopted various measures in order to push forward ecological civilization construction and realize the ideas of "green development, recycling development and low carbon development", and has actively taken part in international cooperation. China strives to achieve the goal of basically building a beautiful China by 2035. Environmental protection and climate change is one of the top priorities of the current government of Iceland as well as an important area of bilateral cooperation. The cooperation between the two countries in the areas of geothermal utilization, new energy automobiles and environmental protection technologies have been fruitful and promising. Minister Guðbrandsson is welcomed to pay an official visit to China at a convenient time for both sides.

Minister Guðbrandsson said that he is impressed by China´s achievements and is glad to see the fruitful results of the cooperation between Iceland and China in the areas of environmental protection and combating climate change. Iceland is willing to further enhance cooperation and exchanges between the relevant Ministries of the two countries and he looks forward to having the opportunity to visit China in the future.
