|Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Jin Zhijian Addresses at Rolling Snowball Exhibition Opening Ceremony|
On 14th July 2018, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Jin Zhijian attended the opening ceremony of Rolling Snowball Exhibition in Djúpivogur of Iceland. Among over 200 guests were President Guðni Jóhannesson and First Lady Eliza Reid of Iceland, Mayor Gauti Jóhannesson of Djúpivogur and guests from all sectors of Iceland.
In his remarks, Ambassador Jin Zhijian positively reviewed the important role played by Rolling Snowball Exhibition in promoting cultural exchanges between the East and the West. He stressed that Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the vision to create a community of shared future for mankind. China is willing to work together with Iceland and other countries for a bright future for mankind.
President Jóhannesson warmly congratulated the opening of Rolling Snowball Exhibition, and hoped that the exhibition could serve as an important platform for Iceland people to communicate with the world to enhance mutual understanding and friendship.
Rolling Snowball Exhibition was initiated by Chinese European Art Centre and Municipality of Djúpivogur in 2014. This annual exhibition was based on the theme of modern art and had a great influence among the art and culture circle in Iceland. Chinese European Art Centre was established in Xiamen in 1999 by Madame Ineke Gudmundsson and Mr. Sigurður Gudmundsson to promote cultural exchanges between China and Europe. This year the exhibition has staged art pieces of 28 artists from China, Iceland and other countries, covering a wide collection of short films, paintings, sculptures and performance art, which were well received by the guests at presence.
