The 12th Sino-Icelandic Economic and Trade Commission held in Iceland

On June 15th, Mr. Fu Ziying, the China International Trade Representative (Ministerial Level) and Vice Minister of Commerce visited Iceland and co-chaired the 12th Sino-Icelandic Economic and Trade Commission with Mr. Sturla Sigurjonsson, the Permanent Secretary of State of Icelandic Foreign Ministry in Reykjavik Iceland. Both Sides attached great importance to this meeting. Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Mr. Jin Zhijian and Icelandic Ambassador to China Mr. Gunnar Gunnarsson also attended the meeting.

During the commission meeting, both sides briefed to each other their domestic economies, reviewed bilateral commercial relations and cooperations in key sectors. They also had cordial and pragmatic exchanges in ways of how to jointly maintain the multilateral trading system, and strengthen cooperation under the "Belt and Road" framework as well as in the field of Arctic affairs. They had further discussion in deepening the Implementation of the China-Iceland Free Trade Agreement, expanding the export of Icelandic agricultural and fishery products to China and the possibilities of opening direct flight between the two countries and the setting up of Icelandic visa application centers in China.

Before the commission meeting, China International Trade Representative (Ministerial Level) and Vice Minister of Commerce Mr. Fu Ziying also met with Icelandic President Mr. Guðni Jóhannesson. Mr. Fu extended greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Mr. Guðni Jóhannesson. The two had cordial and friendly conversation on enhancing friendship between the people of two countries and deepening pragmatic cooperation in various fields. Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Mr. Jin Zhijian and Icelandic Ambassador to China Mr. Gunnar Gunnarsson also attended the meeting.
