Ambassador JIN Zhijian Meets with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland

Ambassador JIN Zhijian met with the Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson on 22 February. The two sides exchanged views on the promotion of China-Iceland relations.

H.E. Mr. Þórðarson extended his warm welcome to Ambassador JIN as the new Chinese Ambassador to Iceland. He said that the China-Iceland relations have been growing sound and smoothly, the bilateral cooperation in various fields are both consistent and fruitful. The Icelandic side is willing to join hands with the Chinese side to promote steady development of the bilateral relations.

Ambassador JIN said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971, the relations between China and Iceland have been developing steadily, with close high-level contacts, growing trade volume as well as active people-to-people exchanges. Pragmatic cooperation including geothermal development, Arctic affairs, science and technology has been developing rapidly and face great potential and opportunities. He is willing to work closely with H.E. Mr. Þórðarson to further strenghen the bilateral relationship between China and Iceland.
