|Embassy of China in Iceland Holds "Silk Road on Strings" Lecture|
On 14 June 2017, the Chinese Embassy in Iceland invited Chinese violinist Mr. Zhu Dan to give a music lecture entitled "Silk Road on Strings". Over 60 friends from different circles, including young musicians and tutors of the 5th Annual Harpa International Music Academy and representatives of overseas Chinese were present.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Zhang Weidong extended warm congratulations to the successful performance of the young musicians and tutors of the 5th Annual Harpa International Music Academy who have travelled all the way to Iceland and the complete success of the "Silk Road on Strings Concert" by Mr. Zhu Dan and Mr. Julien Quentin on 13 June. He wished that through the lecture the musician will demonstrate the spirit of cultural integration and mutual learning advocated by the Belt and Road Initiative in the field of music, and enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Iceland.
Mr. Zhu Dan introduced how the Chinese national music developed and mingled with the music of the world, especially the countries along the Silk Road. He demonstrated the music theory of Chinese Shaanxi Opera with violin, and performed the classical "Song of Nostalgia" composed by Chinese violinist and composer Ma Sicong. After his lecture, Mr. Zhu Dan invited questions from the audience and explained the history and vocalization principle of the Chinese traditional wind instrument Sheng, and the music theory of Cantonese Opera.
The gathering was permeated with warm, happy and friendly atmosphere from the beginning to the end.
