China's AQSIQ Delegation Visits Iceland

From 21-24 June, a delegation headed by Mr. Zhi Shuping, Minister of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ) visited Iceland. The delegation met with Mr. Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture of Iceland. They comprehensively exchanged views on establishing bilateral sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) cooperation and enhancing quality inspection cooperation within the framework of China-Iceland Free Trade Agreement. They also discussed the requirements of inspection and quarantine for exportation of relevant Icelandic fishery and agricultural products from Iceland into China and signed cooperation documents. The two ministers agreed that effective quality inspection cooperation was vital to ensure the quality safety of mutual trade products, protect consumers' interests and serving the development of China-Iceland relations. Based on current good cooperation, they would start with this meeting to further deepen pragmatic cooperation and lift the level of cooperation. The delegation also visited some Icelandic companies.
