Ambassador Zhang Weidong Meets with Prime Minister of Iceland

On 8th January 2015, Ambassador Zhang Weidong paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson of Iceland. They exchanged views on China-Iceland relations and bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Zhang said China-Iceland relations have developed steadily and smoothly since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Iceland. High level exchanges of the two countries have become more frequent, economic and trade cooperation has been expanded and people-to-people exchanges have been increased. The enforcement of China-Iceland Free Trade Agreement has injected new vitality to bilateral cooperation in various fields. The Chinese side will continue to work together with Icelandic side to promote bilateral relations to a new stage.

Prime Minister Gunnlaugsson welcomed Ambassador Zhhang to assume his post. He said Iceland-China relations have become an important part of Icelandic foreign relations. The two sides have made gratifying achievements in political, economic, cultural and tourism cooperation. The Icelandic side is willing to strengthen its cooperation with Chinese side, thus bringing in more fruits to our relations.
