On Jan 28 and 29, Chinese Ambassador Jin Zhijian took interview with the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RUV) and newspaper Morgunblaðið respectively to introduce China's battle against the current outbreak of pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
Ambassador Jin introduced the situation of the epidemic of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, as well as the major measures taken by the Chinese government and people from all walks of life to prevent and control the epidemic and the positive results achieved. He stressed that since the outbreak, the Chinese government attached great importance to the prevention and control of the epidemic and people’s lives and health always come first. Under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government mobilized resources throughout the country to fight the epidemic, and a comprehensive and multi-layered prevention and control system has been established. In a highly responsible attitude, China has actively cooperated with the international community and shared information with WHO and relevant organizations in a timely manner. The international community spoke highly of the effective measures taken by the Chinese government to fight the epidemic. The epidemic of the novel coronavirus pneumonia can be prevented, controlled and cured, the Chinese government and people have the full determination, confidence and capability to win the battle against the epidemic. China is in close contact and cooperation with relevant parties in Iceland and will properly handle matters related to the epidemic.
